Russian swimsuit model wins women's world chess title
September 19, 2008 - Using the slogan "Beauty and Intelligence can go together", 23 year old model Alеxаndrа Kоstеnіυk has won the Wоmеn's Wоrld Chеss Chаmpіоnshіp.
A grandmaster since the age of 14 (the youngest woman to ever attain the title), Kosteniuk has worked as a fashion and swimwear model to raise the profile of the game.
"I want people to see there is a fun side to chess. It can be made as exciting as soccer or tennis...I am clever, so I can play chess; and I'm not so ugly, so I can model"
Kosteniuk hosts the popular podcast "Chess is Cool", and sells semi-clad photos and videos of herself to further promote the game.
